Our committee would like to save some money by using our own volunteers to supervise the ride – will that be okay?
No. All Public Liability Insurance Policies require each amusement ride supervised by a thoroughly trained and experienced employee of the amusement company providing the amusement rise and services. If an accident occurs while an amusement device is being supervised by a “volunteer” supplied by the event organiser, the Public Liability Insurance policy will be Null and Void – neither the ride operator and nor the event organiser would be covered by insurance. A few attractions that are not classified as “amusement devices” will be exempted from this clause. This will include some of the attractions we offer, to ensure which ones are they, please contact us and talk to one of our representatives.
When will the rides arrive to be set up?
The expected time or arrival or ETA will vary from one function to another. It will depend on the number of attractions booked and the beginning time or the day of the event. For instance, for the Friday evening events, we usually arrive just after 9 AM on the Friday. For weekend events we prefer to arrive the day before if possible, because that way, we get more time for setting everything up. If the attractions are already booked for another event, we may arrive that night after the event is over and we have picked up from there.
If the rides arrive the day before the event, who will be providing the security?
If the rides arrive the day or night before the event, rest assured that all overnight security for the amusements will be provided by us, provided that the organising committee has not arranged for their own security. As the amusement devices are usually located at some distance from the stages and stalls and such, our staff cannot be entrusted with the security of the entire event site. You need to remember this point.
Can these rides operate during wet weather?
The answer to this question is no, and the reason is safety issues. You need to know that passing and occasional showers are okay. However, our operations will stop if there is continual rain. Moreover, the operations will also stop when the rain starts falling. Once the wet weather clears, the equipment will be towel dried, and their operations can recommence. If, on the other hand, the weather deteriorates to the point where showers are persistent and continual, or light rain keeps on falling, the continuation of service will have to be reconsidered. To this end, the online weather maps available have to be inspected and consulted before any decision can be made regarding the continuation of the amusements. You also have to remember that, along with wet weather being a safety issue, parents do not want their children to be exposed to such conditions for an extended period. They are aware of the consequences of such a decision.
Can the riders wear Plaster Casts?
Riders with casts will still be able to use the majority of the rides and attractions provided that they can sit in the ride comfortably. All the restraints have to be fitted properly, and they are capable of holding onto the lap bar/restraint system in place. Riders with plaster casts or braces will be restricted from riding those rides where the cast or brace may present a hazard to the guest or others, including inflatable Jumping Castles and Super Slides.
Can riders carry loose articles?
No, all the loose articles may present a hazard to the guest, the ride mechanisms and the other riders whilst in operation; hence, such articles will be banned from the rides.
How much space do you need for the rides?
The requirement of space for each of the amusement device will be listed on the ride’s specification page on the website. You can also contact us and talk to one of our representatives to gather more information on the topic. You are also advised to include space at the front of each attraction for the queuing purpose. Usually, we need an area of 30 metres in-depth, and the width will depend on the number and size of the items booked. A Google Earth site plan of the ground with a superimposed amusement layout will be available from us.
Can you need the Event Committee on-site?
Yes, we do site inspections on a regular basis, and that means to access. Area suitability can be checked by us along with the development of a Site Plan.
Our organisation is planning a School Fete. What options are there for booking the rides?
There are two formats used in the supply of amusement rides at Fetes, Fairs and Festivals, and they are Flat-Rate Hire and Share or Sales.
Flat-Rate Hire – The Organising Committee will pay a set amount of money or “hire fee” to the ride operator for each amusement ride provided. The Committee’s Profit is equal to the number of Total Sales minus the Share of Sales.
Share of Sales – The Ride Operator will supply the attractions “free of charge”, and at the end of the event, total ticket or pass sales will be distributed on an 80:20 basis, where 80% of the sales belongs to the operator and 20% of the sales belongs to the organisation.
How do we book Melbourne Amusement Hire?
